Further consolidating the relationship between Italy and Argentina and intensifying business opportunities, especially in the energy sector. These are the priorities that emerged from the event "Argentina: opportunities in the energy and energy transition sectors", promoted by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Promos Italia, Ice, and the Italian Chamber of Commerce in Argentina, which I had the opportunity to attend last Tuesday, 25 June.
The event was introduced by the Vice-President of the Council of Ministers and Minister of Ministero degli Affari Esteri e della Cooperazione Internazionale, Antonio Tajani and Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Trade and Worship of Argentine Republic, Diana Mondino.
MoU EU-ARGENTINA ON SUSTAINABLE RAW MATERIAL VALUE CHAINS.
Relations between the EU and Argentina have intensified in their cooperation in the area of raw materials. In line with the EU's Global Gateway strategy, the agreement aims to ensure the development of a secure and sustainable supply of raw materials necessary for the clean energy and digital transition. It also aims to develop a sustainable raw materials industry, and to support the creation of local added value, quality employment and sustainable and inclusive economic growth, to the mutual benefit of both sides.
Within the framework of the relaunch of relations with Latin America and Argentina in particular, the meeting was relevant to further promote and consolidate economic and trade relations between the two countries, relations that are already traditionally excellent due to historical and cultural ties.
In a context of high geological potential such as Argentina's, the vast abundance of natural resources offers significant opportunities for economic development, technological innovation and environmental sustainability. The vast resources of oil, natural gas, renewable energy resources coupled with the strategic presence of critical raw materials such as lithium, copper, gold and rare earths position the country as a strategic area for mining and long-term investment.
With bright economic prospects and ongoing innovation, Argentina stands out as a dynamic and growing market with unique opportunities that deserve to be exploited now more than ever to invest in key sectors. A land of opportunities that are now concrete, explained Minister Diana Mondino.
For the EU, this is the right opportunity to realise the partnership on sustainable raw materials value chains. The present moment is a time of growth and challenges, but above all of significant possibilities for strategic collaboration. Complementary European experience and expertise can converge to join forces, combining resources and capabilities to achieve ambitious goals and create shared value.
